Apple Watch
The Apple Watch Series 1 was released on 24th April 2015. The Apple Watch was the first piece of wearable technology ever released by Apple. The main use of the Apple Watch is the easier access to notifications, so if you are deciding whether or not to purchase either Apple Watches, one thing you should consider is whether you use the iPhones notifications regularly. As well as this the Apple Watch can monitor your movements and record them, displaying them both on your watch screen and on your iPhone when they are synced with Bluetooth.
I have had the Apple Watch series 1 for nearly 6 months now and I am in love with this piece of technology. I wear this watch everyday, I find it especially helpful when working out as I can access my workout data on my iPhone, keeping track of my movements as well as monitoring my heart rate. On the watch you can select different types of workouts for when your at the gym or going on a run, the watch will record how long you have been active for, the calories you have burnt as well as telling you how far you have travelled if you are doing an outside workout. One of the best features of the watch is the activate on wrist raise, which is convenient and simple. Another feature that works in conjunction with activate wrist raise is Siri, which is Apples virtual personal assistant. To activate Siri you simply raise your wrist and say 'Hey Siri', then you can ask Siri questions as well as commands such as: When is my next meeting?, What's 16 times 42?, Set an alarm for 6:30am.
The apple watch has proven to be pretty durable, although the screen of my watch has a few scratches on the face, and lots of small scratches on the edges, they are hardly noticeable and I am impressed of how little damage there is considering that I have worn this watch close to everyday for around 6 months. As well as this there are also small dents in my watch case (however, these are only visible upon examining the watch, as I didn't even know they were there!), I own the rose gold apple watch which I think makes any dents more visible. Along with the rose gold watch, I paired it with the pink sports strap, which I haven't switched or changed with any other straps. The sports strap still looks new, it is completely clean and hasn't stained as I though it might. I also thought that the light pink strap might discolour as it is such a light colour, however, I have been proven wrong. I have the Small to medium watch strap which fits perfectly (I have small wrists) and it is very secure, my watch has never fallen off my wrist and the strap has never come undone. The watch is also surprisingly easy to put on and remove, which is a huge plus!
A major disadvantage to this watch would be that it has to be paired with the iPhone 5 or later, this is one of the reasons I was not able to buy the Apple Watch when it was released, as I had the iPhone 4. You are able to use the watch when it is not connected to your phone via Bluetooth, however most functions on the watch won't work to their full ability, such as messaging, maps, mail, social media, etc.. Messaging on the Apple watch is also outstandingly easy as you can select quick phrases to send as well as using a feature called 'Scribble' where you draw write the word onto the touch screen and the watch creates the sentence for you. In my opinion this is a really good feature on the watch as the screen wouldn't be big enough for a keyboard, however you are still able to send a message as if it were from your phone. You are also able to send your heart beat to people who also own an Apple Watch as well as animated messages. If you are into sports, then I would suggest taking a look at the series 2 over series 1, as it is waterproof and would probably be best suited to that lifestyle over the older version.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Apple Watch to anyone looking for a time saving and fun piece of wearable technology. If you have a busy life style, or just love new technology then I definitely think the Apple Watch is worth trying out!
